Art during lockdown
We’ve been locked down now in the UK since March 23rd 2020 and during this time I have been getting to know Zoom which is if you don’t know a bit like Skype or Facetime where you can communicate online and also see everyone you’re meeting with on the one screen. Due to my physical painting class being cancelled mid March I thought I’d try Zoom out for painting lessons at a distance. I met with quite a few issues early on mainly with how to show my desk and therefore let people see what I’m painting but I’ve asked several people to come and trial a lesson and all the problems are being ironed out. As it’s just a trial I don’t feel any pressure if things go wrong although I’m finding out that sometimes waiting till things are perfect is not a good idea. However I am much more confident now using Zoom and it has made me think more about online or distance learning and how I can fit in with other organisations. For example I have been asked to help out with the cub scouts with their creative badge as the scout meetings in this area are being conducted on Zoom at this time. It’s been great fun seeing how the kids react or don’t react to what I’m doing and this is all great feedback.
